Whoops

I forgot to upload my comic due to a sudden addiction to the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman and a sudden wave of intense sleepiness.  Expect a comic up this evening.

Side note: I got this awesome email from the feller what helped me build my website.

Sully, how goes it?

Papa’s got a brand new bag.
And I’ve got a new website & stuff.

www.lightpress.net

AND….this is hillarious.
I’m contacting a potential new client who wants some Wordpress help.
They are described as a non profit helping children & families.
I want to send them an example of recent Wordpress work, your site specifically…

Then I remember the Strip Joint.
The drug addled, child abusing crow.
The Juggy…Juggy Penguin…

so I had to write this:
“We mostly use the SquareSpace platform, but also work with Wordpress pages for clients who are on a tighter budget.
The most recent example is www.sullysplatter.com (be warned: some of the comic strips are in poor taste)

So, here’s to your disturbing subject matter, offensive imagery, and overall poor, poor taste.
Keep it coming.

I can’t even begin to explain how happy I am right now.

Wedding Invitations!

Hey. So I was pretty absent from Moonshine Mountain for a solid chunk of time there.

I got married is part of why. I hand drew the invitations, some favors, and one other thing. I’ll post stuff as I find time, but check out the invites in the meantime! They have robots on them, yes.

Here’s just the robots if you want to see them in a bit more detail.

Okay well enjoy! Hopefully I’ll be able to hunt down some snapshots of the favors as I did not have time to scan them before the wedding.

Unused Material

So I remembered that I had a handfull of page toppers that wound up being too clunky to work out for this site design. Seeing as they’re just collecting dust on my hard drive, it seems appropriate that I should at least post them in the old bloggie-doo.

And here’s the only one that I wound up putting color on because it managed to find a home on the site. It still pains me that I had to shrink it down too much. Here’s the blogman himself.

I need to get in the habit of posting in this thing, I have loads of random drawing lying around. God, do I hate scanning stuff.

Skull painted on rock

I work in a grocery store; let’s get that out on the table. Where I work there are two receivers who take in all the product shipped to our store. The younger and newer of the two is kind of a loafer and doesn’t show a ton of initiative. Our store manager has busted on him several times for this, one of those times being the week leading up to Thanksgiving: one of the busiest weeks of the year. So the senior receiver sent him out into the woods behind the store, just to get him out of the way, and told him to find two rocks to use as paperweights. “I want the smoothest rocks you can find back there. I don’t want any jagged edges” he said to the kid. Then as Christmas approached, most of the administration team, which includes us sign makers as well as the receivers, participated in a Secret Santa swap. I got the junior receiver from the hat. So I stole the smoother of the two rocks (actually I just asked him for it) and I painted a skull on it. I like it.

You can check out a couple of different angle shots of the thing in the gallery section. Hoping to post a moonshine soon!

Paulie the Shark

Hey Guys,

Bet you didn’t even know I still had a website. I do. Here are some character sketches for a comic I’m telling myself I’m going to work on. Enjoy!

Lynch Family Crest

Congratulations Rob and Amy! This was my wedding gift to some very close friends of mine. I took their family crest and swapped in images that I associate with them. Rob is also the front-man for the 8-bit rock band, Cathode Rays.

The Serpent Eating its Tail

You can all thank (blame) fellow artist and UMD Alum Jeffrey Desrosiers for spotting this as a sketch defiling a page in my sketchbook and strong-arming me into bringing it to final. Pen & ink and watercolor on cold press.
